Enabling and disabling drop down context menus for Lists and Libraries – ECB

The list item menu, also referred to as the Edit Control Button (ECB), and the link to the item appear for only some of the field types. There is no way in the browser to change it so that the menu and link appear on another field. However, you can make that change by using SharePoint Designer 2010. Hide a list or library from the browser
